A sequel to the absolutely kickass Marvel's Spider-Man from back in 2018, this time the web-slinging gameplay focuses on Spider-Verse star Miles Morales. Miles, who played a pretty prominent role in the 2018 game, was set up to succeed Peter Parker, so it's no surprise we get more of his story. Miles uses electricity in addition to the normal Spider-Man moves, meaning there's still web-swinging action, but with some new twists.
The game looks great, and Miles' abilities make the combat from the first title even more stylish. The PS5's remarkably quick load times also ensure it never slows down, and yes, fast traveling is now a viable option. It's a great expansion on what we loved from the first Spider-Man. One of the greatest surprises during the 2021 PlayStation Showcase was the reveal of Marvel's Wolverine, a project in development by Insomniac Games. That's right, the studio is juggling Marvel's Spider-Man 2 and this game simultaneously, which just goes to show how impressive the team is. This one is even earlier in development than Spider-Man 2, and doesn't have a release window just yet.
It's unclear if it will tie to the Spider-Man games, or if it will be its own separate story — though, we're inclined to believe they'll be connected. The reveal trailer doesn't give us a glimpse of gameplay, but we can probably expect it to be a third-person action adventure, with a large open world to explore. What we do know is that you'll need a PS5 to play this one when it comes out. Elden Ring is one of the most-anticipated games, largely due to its developer, FromSoftware — who you might know as the team behind Dark Souls and Bloodborne.
This game was first revealed at E and wasn't shown off again for quite some time. A new trailer was finally unveiled in the summer of 2021, showing off some more of the open world and even featuring a release date. We know it's an action RPG set in an open world and is a collaboration between FromSoftware andauthor George R. R. Martin. It'll be reminiscent of the Souls games, but with many new ideas, such as horseback riding. Though much of this game's DNA is rooted in the Souls franchise, it will play differently, due to the open world. The Souls games have always been slightly open-ended in their design, but never quite featured an open world.
With my family, and it ended with my nine-year-old brother screaming at me. The "nine-year-old screaming at you" regard, not the gameplay. The gameplay sees you and your "friends" trying to run a wacky little kitchen where silly things keep happening.
It's a fantastic party title, and All You Can Eat features every little bit of content from the first two titles for a nice $50 price tag. Considering it's one of the only party games launching on PS5, it's a must for your collection. With the PS5's release finally happening this week—and our own review of the console and the new DualSense controller out—I thought I'd give you a rundown on all the games you can play right on release day. After all, while guts and glamorous graphics are all well and good, the video game library is really what determines which console you pledge your gaming allegiance to.
And the PS5 is shaping up to have a killer catalog, with a lineup of game after game after gorgeous game. Astro's Playroom is a love letter to both 3D platformers and the PlayStation itself. It's also, to date, the title that makes the best use of Sony's DualSense controller, with incredible haptic feedback and clever usage of the pad's adaptive triggers.
Sack boy demon souls yakuza mm godfall, cyberpunk, will look way better on ps5 watch Dogs Legion will look better also. I also don't get why people moan about bc when we want better graphics and fps yet I think the only people who moan are the ones who can't afford it. Also who plays more than five games at once oh forgot black ops zombies and I even own a pro and one x. But again I'm in a position i am able to have owned every ps since the first and I'm not gonna give up now.
I was in two minds at the start but when u hear that fan especially playing avengers or mw than buy all meens i want next gen. But again treat the ps4 like the wife and treat the ps5 like its ur mistress. Whilst the ps4 will always be their over cooking having good days and bad. I don't want to see an article either because the written word can be changed or misquoted. I need a video of one of the higher ups that say they don't care. Also keep in mind that this list is getting updated frequently so the amount of games grows daily.
As for backwards compatibility if you want to play old games than have the old console. As for the 360 having it so did the PlayStation 3 at launch and the 360's backwards compatibility was only emulation like it was through the generations and the PlayStation 3 was hardware based. Also keep in mind that MICROSOFT said that the machine could play HD DVD and later told us that you needed a separate unit to do that and the PlayStation 3 supported blu-ray and it was built in. Also look at XBOX they also make money through having those backwards compatible games on their store front making money off of each sale and also charging hosting fees for the game to be on there.
Also XBOX needs to have backwards compatibility because that's all they can offer. SONY offers us new games that are game of the year contenders that are crafted with love and passion and it shows. 343 Industries put the blame on everything and everyone other than themselves. Also why haven't we seen any legit gameplay running on the Series X yet? The consoles 2 months away so here's hoping we actually get some gameplay soon.
The popular racing game is coming back in a big way, and the developer says players will be thrilled to get their hands on the redesigned campaign mode. The trailer gave us a glimpse of something called GT Town, which seemed to provide a robust roadmap for planning out your life as a racer. Sony said they were working on fancy audio tricks for this presentation, and it showed — viewers could feel every gear shift, thanks to some impressive audio engineering.
Couple that with the new DualSense controller, and we're looking at one of the most sensory-intensive racing sims ever made. During the 2021 PlayStation Showcase, Gran Turismo 7's release date was revealed, along with a fancy new trailer. An enhanced version of Hideo Kojima's latest game is on the way to PS5. Death Stranding Director's Cutincludes improved combat, quality of life changes, and even a new racing mode, which is just as wacky as you'd imagine. In addition to the improvements, Director's Cut also features a new companion named Buddy Bot, which helps Sam Porter Bridges carry larger hauls.
Death Stranding is not for everyone, but is certainly a unique experience. Now PS5 users will be able to play it natively on Sony's new machine. Welcome to the inaugural edition of our best games list for PlayStation 5. We've been running these lists quarterly since 2019, but it's only now that we feel the PS5 has a list of games strong enough to justify its own distinct page away from the PS4.
Usually we'd take this opportunity to tell you what's new for this edition, but well, they all are. We'll be updating this periodically, so, if a game's just been released and you don't see it, chances are that the reason for its absence is that we haven't played through it yet. This list is only going to get longer the more the PlayStation 5 is on the market, and the more people are able to buy the elusive console. There are a number of other great cross-platform releases that are fun to play on PS5 — check our list of the best Xbox Series X/S games, which has several games that are also available on PS5. If you're more of a mobile gamer, we have lists of great Android games and the best Switch games to play.
If you'd prefer to try your hand at PC gaming, there are a number of excellent cheap gaming laptops available. What follows is a fantasy adventure through the land of Teyvat as the unnamed traveler attempts to help citizens, unlock the land's mysteries and find his/her twin. Devil May Cry is a fever dream of a series, but wow if that combat isn't addicting. DMCV was one of the most polished and stylish titles of last gen, and now it'll be here on PS5 with updated graphics frame rates and more content, including Vergil as a playable character. Due to all the new content and it being deemed a "premium remaster," folks will have to shell out more coin. If I hadn't been watching this game get announced during a work meeting, I would have gotten up and kicked a table.
I love the Souls games, and the return of Demon's Souls appears to come with a brighter, less gritty color palette, which I'm all for. It seems to be a remake of the original Demon's Souls, headed by Bluepoint, which brought us Shadow of the Colossus. The game looks magnificent, with a huge emphasis on lighting and magic, drawing on what the series learned from the likes of Dark Souls 3, Sekiro, and Bloodborne. Plus, with the unbelievable load times, you won't be waiting nearly as long to enact sweet vengeance on the bastard who took your souls. Playing PS4 games on a PS5 introduces new possibilities, though.
Thanks to the new and improved hardware, you'll experience higher framerates and shorter load times. Many games have been optimized to take advantage of the powerful PS5 hardware, maximizing those improvements and increasing visual fidelity. In some cases, developers have even taken the opportunity to go back, tune them up, and release ports made specifically for the PS5. The best PS4 games on PS5 make the most of the new console and its "next-gen" features.
Simply put, it's worth going back to these games, even if you've already played them, because they are better. Despite its name, Control's plot is focused on the, well, lack of control a secretive agency currently has over the supernatural. It's your job to regain that control fighting the ghouls that come thick and fast.
The PS5 is undoubtedly the best way to play Control, which had niggles on previous consoles. Here it's free from issues, visually upgraded and a much pacier game. Add to this some nifty ray tracing and you have one of the best-looking next gen games to play. Quite possibly the worst-kept secret in gaming for a number of years, Bluepoint Game's remake of From Software's brutal challenge is a triumph. If you played the original from 2009, the glorious art and unique gameplay was sometimes tanked by a technical performance that was quite clearly heaving against the limit of budget, hardware and its own ambition. Bluepoint has wisely kept their remake as faithful as possible, while updating what didn't work, and elevating the original artistic intentions with a depth and detail that simply weren't possible on PS3.
Just don't expect it to be any easier now that it runs more smoothly. Scott has been writing for Screen Rant since 2016 and regularly contributes to The Gamer. He has previously written articles and video scripts for websites like Cracked, Dorkly, Topless Robot, and TopTenz. A graduate of Edge Hill University in the UK, Scott started out as a film student before moving into journalism.
It turned out that wasting a childhood playing video games, reading comic books, and watching movies could be used for finding employment, regardless of what any career advisor might tell you. Scott specializes in gaming and has loved the medium since the early '90s when his first console was a ZX Spectrum that used to take 40 minutes to load a game from a tape cassette player to a black and white TV set. Scott now writes game reviews for Screen Rant and The Gamer, as well as news reports, opinion pieces, and game guides. The sequel to one of PlayStation's most successful titles, The Last Of Us Part II tells a harrowing story about flawed people attempting to survive an impossible situation. The star, Ellie, is a character you can both love and be incredibly uncomfortable with, and characters around her aren't much better.
The game is also a tense, frightening horror action game that refuses to let you get too relaxed, and it looks better on the PS5 than anywhere else. Like its rival, the Xbox Series X/S, the PlayStation 5 is an incredibly powerful console on which you can play some of the fastest, most beautiful, most demanding games that have ever been created. The PS5 has SSD storage to cut down loading times, an intricate, complicated cooling system, and a new controller with one of the best haptic feedback systems ever built. It might not be as powerful as some of the best gaming laptops, but it comes close.
Lol I'm not fussed I haven't got a pre order after seeing this line up. The great games will come but for me I was gonna play my PS4 library on ps5 anyway for the first few months , assassin's creed lost it since the 3rd one ended so bad, bring back the apple! Watchdogs went down hill on the 2nd game , I love watchdogs one , playing a shinier version of demon souls would be good and more Spidey!
I was wondering why we hadn't seen any next gen gameplay for it yet. I just noticed on the PSN Store that it said it will upgrade for free so I just assumed that it would be available day & date since both the PS4 & the gen before launched with a FIFA game. Mind you on the 360 it was just a paired down International version. Aw well I suppose it will improve the loading times on the backwards compatible version until we get the next gen version.
Marvel's Spider-Man was already one of the best superhero games ever made, but the PS5 remaster elevates it to a new level. Insomniac's visual updates don't look slight in any way - the entire relighting of New York City brings the look of the adventure up to par with the brand-new Miles Morales. The addition of ray tracing with 4K resolution and HDR support makes any time of day so beautiful that you'd be forgiven for forgetting this wasn't running on code originally developed for the PS5. Add in the quality of life improvements Spidey got post-launch, new accessibility options, photo mode updates, and all the DLC episodes, and this is the definitive way to play one of the PS4's best games. Playing as Dante, Nero, and V offer three unique play styles in this buffet of magnificent hack-and-slash battles set to electronica and heavy metal. Adding Vergil to the mix adds new content to play through as well as a way to enjoy his alternative playstyle.
With ray tracing options, a 120 fps performance mode and the new Bloody Palace and Legendary Dark Knight modes, the Special Edition of DMC5 offers plenty of new ways for players to experience this modern classic. Project Eve is a new action game from developer Shift Up Corporation. It will feature a free flow combat system wherein you must attack, dodge, and defend, making split second decisions on the fly.
Project Eve will include DualSense features such as haptic feedback that will increase the immersion. This one has been in development for a while now, so we're hoping it's ready to launch sometime in 2022. Coming from Hitman developer IO Interactive, the team is now working on a James Bond game under the working title Project 007.
It will be an original story with a new Bond character, divorced from any of the likenesses of previous actors. The team expects this to be part of a trilogy of games, though not much else is known about the project. Much like a lot of the games on this list, Project 007 likely won't launch for a few years. Dying Light 2 Stay Human is a narrative-driven action game that will be coming to PS5.
The game builds on the parkour and intense combat of the original game, but with much more focus placed on the world and how it changes based on players' actions. There are factions and several moving parts to keep track of, making for a more engrossing and immersive open-world zombie game than Techland has made before. The entire game is also playable in four-player cooperative mode, and players can join each other's worlds to see how they differ from each other. This one has been in the works for ages, but it seems like Techland will finally be ready for release this December. The next game in Electronic Arts' acclaimed shooter series is called Battlefield 2042.
